Abstract

This study compares two procedures to facilitate the organizational socialization process for new employees in a primary health care team. The sample was composed by 32 subjects; 16 were tutored and informed on the structure and the operation of the primary health care team by an expert member of the team, the remaining 16 watched a training video on the functional and structural aspects of the health center. All the subjects completed a knowledge questionnaire about the health center and a feeling questionnaire regarding acceptance in the health team. The results concerning the knowledge of the health center were similar in both groups of subjects; in the results to the questionnaire of feeling of acceptance, meaningful differences were found between the subjects of the two groups. The efficiency and the effectiveness of the two procedures with respect to learning of the formal aspects and of the informal aspects of the operation in the health team, are discussed.
