Abstract

La importancia y trascendencia del primer concilio ecuménico ha sido objeto de reflexión desde su propio tiempo. Eusebio de Cesarea y los diferentes historiadores eclesiásticos de los siglos iv y v no tardaron en glosar el desarrollo del sínodo vinculando, inseparablemente, la consustancialidad de Padre e Hijo enunciada en Nicea a la ortodoxia cristiana determinando y, en cierta medida, condicionando la posterior reflexión sobre el concilio y su influencia histórica y teológica. En la presente contribución abordaremos el desarrollo de la reflexión historiográfica y teológica en torno al concilio de Nicea por sus inmediatos contemporáneos, así como su influencia en las últimas décadas, centrando nuestra atención en el análisis efectuado en las principales monografías y estudios consagrados al estudio de su naturaleza y trascendencia.
