Ana Echevarría is Professor of Medieval History at the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia in Madrid (Spain), the most important Distance University in the Spanish language. She holds a PhD from the University of Edinburgh and started her career as editor in several publishing companies. She has been research fellow in several universities and research centres in the US and Europe. She is now leading the project “Christian Society under Muslim Rule: Canon Collections from Medieval Spain” funded by the Gerda Henkel Foundation, while being a member of the EU COST Action "Islamic Legacy" (IS-LE). Her main research focus is the relations between Christianity and Islam in the Iberian Peninsula, with an emphasis on issues such as religious minorities, polemics, conversion, Mudejars, nd the assimilation of Christian communities by Islam in the Early Middle Ages, trying to set the Iberian Peninsula in a broader Mediterranean context. She also writes on Medieval Queenship, especially in Castile and Granada. Her most recent books are La Península Ibérica en la Edad Media (700-1250), with Iñaki Martín Viso, Madrid: UNED, 2019 and Los mudéjares de la corona de Castilla.
