Doctor by the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos with the thesis Representación autocontenida de documentos HTML una propuesta basada en combinaciones heurísticas de criterios 2006. Supervised by Dr. Ángela Riveiro Seijas, Dr. Raquel Martínez Unanue.

Víctor Fresno Fernández holds a degree in Physics (Theoretical Physics) from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), an Advanced Studies Diploma from the ETSI of Telecommunications of the UPM, and a PhD from the URJC within the PhD Programme in Computer Science and Mathematical Modelling of the School of Experimental Sciences and Technology, obtaining the Extraordinary PhD Award of the Department of Signal Theory and Communications and Telematic Systems and Computing, corresponding to the PhD Theses read during the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 academic years. His research activity began as a pre-doctoral fellow at the CSIC, and then developed at the URJC and UNED universities. He is currently Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Official Master's Degree in Language Technologies at UNED, and belongs to the NLP&IR research group at UNED. He did a post-doctoral stay as Visiting Faculty in the BLENDER group at Queens College, belonging to the City University of New York (CUNY) in 2021. His research interests focus on the study and proposal of text representation models for automatic text processing. He is currently focused on distributional semantic composition and semantic similarity estimation in vector and probabilistic spaces, and in the context of neural language models.
