Doctor by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid with the thesis Teología política y polémica antiarriana en la época de Constancio II 2010. Supervised by Dr. Gonzalo Bravo, Dr. Raúl González Salinero.

Almudena Alba López is a Ph.D. in Ancient History (Doctor Europaeus mention) through the Religious Sciences program (Department of Ancient History – UCM). Her field of specialisation is focused on the study of various aspects of Church History and the history of Ecclesiastical Institutions in Late Antiquity, with a special focus on the analysis of the evolution of various 4th-century Christian doctrines and Patristic Exegesis. She is currently following a fruitful line of research focused on the analysis of the exegesis of the Pauline corpus, the Fourth Gospel and various biblical motifs in the works of Hilary of Poitiers (4th c.). As a researcher, she has conducted research stays at the Pontificia Università Gregoriana and the Sapienza Università of Rome, the Université Charles de Gaulle – Lille 3 of Lille, and Fu Jen Catholic University in Taipei. She is a member of the "Res Publica et Res Sacra. Poder y sacralidad en el mundo romano" research group at the UNED (GI94), the “Antigüedad Tardía y Edad Media (ATEM)” teaching innovation group at the UNED (GID 2022-03) and of various teaching innovation projects carried out within the aforementioned university. She was awarded the Medal of the Pontificate in 2015 for her contributions to historical research in the field of religion. She is a member of the International Society for Cultural Studies and of the editorial committee of the journal Espacio, tiempo y forma. Serie II, Historia Antigua (UNED).
